Hearing Aid Fitting

Hearing Aid Fitting

It is always best to have the support a family member or close friend with you at this appointment.

After deciding what aid is best for you at your Hearing Aid Consultation, the next step will be your Hearing Aid Fitting.

At this visit, Our Audiologist, will program your hearing aids based on a prescription to meet your hearing needs. You will then see one of our Audiology Technicians for an orientation. You will work on getting your hearing aids in and out of your ear, change batteries, and review how to clean and care for your devices.

When putting the hearing aids in for the first time, you may have a variety of emotions about the sounds you are now hearing. This is normal and to be expected. The hearing aid’s goal is to make every day sounds audible and comfortable. Minor changes can be made to the hearing aids at your first fitting if there are things that you feel should be adjusted right away.

The more situations and environments you are in, you will start to adapt to the new sounds you are hearing. Other changes may be made over the next few appointments to customize your hearing, Remember your Hearing Aid Fitting is only a starting place!

Our Audiologist will perform Live Speech Mapping testing to make sure the hearing aids are giving you enough sound where you need it!

Keep a positive outlook on your treatment! Hearing Aid studies have shown that patients with a positive attitude have better success rates with hearing aids. Keep in mind that it may take some time to get acclimated to the sounds you were missing, after all you didn’t lose your hearing overnight. Our Audiology department will work closely with you to get the most out of your new Hearing Aids!

We are excited to help you on your journey to better hearing!
